How do I know if I have the winning bid on an item?

We use a real-time colour-coded system so you can easily tell the status of any item without refreshing your browser. Our timer thumbnails change according to their status as follows:

What are your bidding rules?

All bids start at $0.00. The first bid is $1.00, and later bids follow the increments shown below. Our platform uses proxy bidding, also known as automatic bidding. You can place a maximum bid for an item and the system will bid for you up to that amount using the applicable increment.

Examples of how proxy bidding works:

You enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay. BettBids bids incrementally for you up to that maximum.

For example, if an item has no bids and you enter a maximum bid of $38.00, your first visible bid is $1.00. If nobody else bids, you win for $1.00. If another bidder offers $13.00, the system bids $14.00 for you. If another bidder offers $31.00, the system bids $32.00. The system never bids above your maximum.

If another user exceeds your maximum, you are notified and can increase it before the lot closes. If two users enter the same maximum, the first bidder at that amount remains ahead.

Soft Close

What is a soft close?

We enforce an anti-sniping policy for our online auctions. If a bid is placed within the final minute of a listing, the end time extends by one minute. If another bid is placed during that extended final minute, another minute is added. This continues until a full minute passes with no new bids, giving every bidder a fair chance to respond.

The auction has ended. Now what?

You can visit your Winning Items or Orders in your account to see the items you won. Follow the payment link on your event invoice, then collect your order during the scheduled pickup period. You are responsible for pickup on time and late storage fees may apply.

Shipping

Do you ship?

BettBids does not offer shipping under any circumstances, regardless of the size, weight, or type of item. All purchases must be picked up and paid for in person when required.

Can I send someone to pickup for me?

You are welcome to send someone to pick up your items on your behalf. They must be able to pay for the items at pickup when payment is outstanding and must present the invoice QR code. By doing so, you authorize that person to complete the pickup in accordance with BettBids terms.

What happens if I do not pick-up?

If you do not pick up during the scheduled removal period, a $20.00 late pickup fee is added for each complete week. Fees apply for up to four complete weeks. On the following Saturday at 3:00 PM, the order is cancelled and the items are made unavailable. Your account may remain restricted until any outstanding balance is resolved.

What are your fees?

Registration Fees: There are no fees to register for an account.
Buyer’s Premium: We do not charge a buyer’s premium.
HST: Harmonized Sales Tax (13%) is applied to all items unless explicitly stated otherwise in the item description.
